Maybe boring, but the extra range and splash will make the laser really deadly. It can already take multiple plasma and laser shots, and now it can also outrange laser turrets and hit turrets behind the original turret you are attacking.
Really, splash is much better than recharge time
And for the comment above me, maybe for spammers like you the laser tank is rubbish, but tactical players love this unit
