User blog:Ranger-X/Ideas for an Offline War Commander

I just watched a video on the top 15 strategy games that do not require an Internet connection and I liked it! I always imagined a game that you download to a computer or mobile phone and play anytime without needing to go online first. I played RTS's in the past and most of them did not need a connection and ran at great speeds because of that. The only games I disliked playing DID require a connection. Among them were Command & Conquer 4 Tiberian Twilight and War Commander (which both require persistent connections to run and are slow). I think the offline RTS's are the future of strategy games, and I am still hoping that Kixeye gets on the bandwagon and makes one.

How about a downloadable version of War Commander that you can play anytime with player vs. AI matches to practice base attacks? When you are ready to compete with other players, you can go online. I started a list of some ideas for an offline WC.

1. Base building and resource gathering can be done offline if rogue AI bases and resource deposits are added to the player's private sector.

2. Most of the special events can be done offline if Kixeye programs them that way. This includes the past special events from 2012. Whatever it takes to let the new players catch up to the veterans.

2. Player vs. player matches are optional and can be done online when you connect to Kixeye's server. Just think of the 3D Command & Conquer games, except the bases are already set up.

I would like to hear some input about this. I know my list isn't perfect, but I think I have some good ideas for a WC sequel.
